Music's My Imaginary Friend..

Yes, you may have guessed from the title that I'm listening to CSS on my brand new Skull Candy Navigator headphones. I've only recently been accustomed to headphones as I never knew the sound quality was on a different level to my normal earphones but now I prefer them.

Personally, when choosing headphones, its not just important to get incredible audio quality but the look and design of them has to be perfect too; if I use a pair of headphones on a daily basis they need to actually look good.

The Skullcandy Navigator comes in a sleek and classic  design which is extremely comfortable and durable; not bulky and heavy like some I've tried before. They stay on for as long as you want which helps when I'm constantly pushing my way through crowds on the busy underground.  I've been wearing the headphones all week and I love the crisp sound and the fact that I can't hear anything else around me. It's always a nice feeling to just hear the music and not have it distorted; one of the best features is that you can change the song, volume and turn them off without having to take them off :D.

I decided to chose black Navigators because they pretty much goes with all my outfits but the headphones also come in a range of colours like ice white and hot pink and are even available for full customisation where you can change the colours of the cords, the headphones, the caps and the frames.

What do you think? What colour would you choose? Have you tried Skullcandy before?

Strolling Down the Avenue..

While the weather's perked up a little its been perfect for walking around my favourite parts of London with Matt. This time we decided to stay local and stroll around the nicer parts of Kennington Park and the surrounding streets. I'd love to live in one of those picture perfect Squares lined with pretty white town houses; they all seem to colour coordinate their doors and always have book shelves in their front windows!

Whats really great about living in Kennington is that is super close to the centre and there's plenty of amazing bars and restaurants as well as a few indie pubs and quaint little cafes selling homemade cakes and sandwiches. Living in Zone 2 means we're pretty close to most things and when we're bored there's always somewhere to go within walking distance. What part's of London do you like? Are there any places you would recommend a walk round?

The outfit I'm wearing today is possibly one of my all time favourites and both the bag and dress are from Barcelona based brand Medwinds who are due to open their first London store in Spitalfields anytime now! The Petalies Shirt dress fits sort of like a smock shape which is definitely a wardrobe staple this season and the rich violet blue colour is even more prettier in person! The Ross canvas and leather backpack is simply an all round winner and I'm going to be taking it to Florida with me next month; it'l  be great for keeping all my things safe when I'm up on those gigantic roller coasters!

Have you checked out Medwinds yet? They're soon becoming one of my favourite brands and I've actually got my eyes on a few other pieces I've sneakily hinted to Matt about :). They're the perfect shop for cleverly cut basics and classic pieces that'll probably see you through a few seasons.
Let me know what you think!

Sweet Feeling

There are times when I sit back and realise how lucky I am; although it can get pretty stressful, at the end of the day, being able to do what I love and work for myself is something I've always dreamed of and now it's just a matter of keeping it that way! My office is finally coming together with all the new furniture and its starting to look so lovely I just want to live in there! In my next post I'll be posting my interview that I did when ASOS Marketplace came to visit, unfortunately before all the new furniture came but nevertheless I definitely think they caught the vision and the whole aesthetic of the brand. Maybe in a couple of weeks I can post a studio re-visit and show you what it looks like now!

Today's outfit features some very very pink pants, not the usual colour of choice but somehow I felt like going crazy in the trouser department and decided I need to start shying away from black. The trousers are from Topshop and come in a wide-legged tapered shape, the longer you wear them the baggier they seem to get throughout the day but It didn't really matter because I wasn't going anywhere special! The printed geo blouse is from Next and I've worn it a couple of times on the blog, it's still one of my favourite blouses and perfect for a smart/casual work look. The shoes and bag are both from UrbanOutfitters and the baker boy oversized blazer is from Topshop. What do you think about the trousers? Would you dare to wear such a bright colour?

One of the newest additions to my look, you may have noticed already, are wonderful pair of John Rocha glasses I'm wearing. Unlike the usual bold black frames I often choose; these ones in particular feature a decorative lace-style motif on the side which is such a lovely touch. You can get these frames from Specsavers along with other great John Rocha Designs available in bright crimson shades, indigo blues and blushing pinks; a little different from his usual muted designs but definitely a fresh new approach to something thats becoming such a desirable fashion accessory.

LABEL LOVE: BucketFeet

I definitley have a penchant for bright colours and bold print; when I saw these aqua printed plimsoles, by BucketFeet, I had to  have them! They're the perfect pair of comfortable casual shoes for summer and I've already styled them plenty of outfits.

Today I decided to wear them with my new comic printed t-shirt, high waisted skinny jeans and my old urban outfitter satchel. The shoes could also be styled with a pretty pastel summer dress or teamed with some customised denim shorts and a tie dye blouse. If you prefer to stay on-trend, wear them with some denim dungarees and printed ankle socks for a 90s look or use them to add a pop of colour to your favourite monochrome outfit; the shoes are so versatile and classic, they pretty much go with anything! What do you think about this seasons return of trainers and sneakers!? How would you style them?

What's really special about the brand is the fact that every purchase goes to helping the artist who designed them. Each style is individually designed by emerging artists meaning every pair has an inspirational story and background. The pair I'm wearing today are designed by an artist called Fat Sugar Daddy who was inspired by 90s nostalgia and horror films; I picked them because they were my favourite design. You can read more about the artist's story as well as other featured artists at BucketFeet or why not even tweet the artist himself- @fatsugardaddy
If you're based in the UK you can buy BucketFeet from Office now!

The Great Gatsby Movie- 16th May 2013

From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby.  The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role.

The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks.  Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.  It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.  As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Academy Award® nominee DiCaprio (“J. Edgar,” “Aviator”) plays Jay Gatsby, with Tobey Maguire starring as Nick Carraway; Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan (“An Education”) and Joel Edgerton as Daisy and Tom Buchanan; Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson; and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker.  Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of Meyer Wolfsheim.

Oscar® nominee Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge!”) directs the film in 3D from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on Fitzgerald’s book.  Luhrmann produces, along with Catherine Martin, Academy Award® winner Douglas Wick (“Gladiator”), Lucy Fisher and Catherine Knapman.  The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Barrie M. Osborne (“Lord of the Rings – Return of the King”) and Bruce Berman.

Two-time Academy Award®-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (“Moulin Rouge!”) designs as well as produces.  The editors are Matt Villa, Jason Ballantine and Jonathan Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan.  The music is by Craig Armstrong.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in association with A&E Television, a Bazmark/Red Wagon Entertainment Production, a Film by Baz Luhrmann, “The Great Gatsby.”  Opening Summer 2013, the film will be distributed in IMAX® 3D, 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Shiny Boots

My Outfit today is pretty casual and thrown together; I thought it was high time for an outfit post but all I really wanted to do was show off my new shiny boots from Linzi Shoes! I decided to team them with my Dahlia pinafore dress,  Topshop cyber kitty t-shirt and new baby pink Topshop sock hat I bought the other day!
The boots are really comfy and one of the main reasons I chose them was because they're such a classic design and go with everything! I've not stopped browsing through Linzi's website this week and I can't believe how cheap the prices are; I've definitely added a few pieces to my wish list this month!

This week I'm having a bit of a hectic one, although I could say this is just another normal week! On Saturday I'm exhibiting at Newcastle Fashion weekend, representing ASOS Marketplace with my brand Mod Dolly! It all came about when I won a competition to win a 2x2 metre stand and to feature five of my outfits on the catwalk! I really can't believe how luck I've been recently I'm so so excited but also REALLY nervous! I know I've got a few more all-nighters before the event and even though I'm going to be absolutely exhausted I know I just need to work extra hard over the next few days to really make the brand shine. I'm feeling really optimistic and hope people will like what I've created over the last couple of years; fingers crossed it'll be a massive push for Mod Dolly and the start of a very good summer!

The event is going to take place over two days and you can buy tickets here. If you're already going or live in Newcastle come and say Hi!
